Oooooh, I haven't posted here in a long while.
Let's start with Thanksgiving then.
I drove to Kentucky after lunch with my family that wednesday. There was a lot of DDR with my cousins, who don't have any gaming systems. I feel their pain because my siblings and I weren't allowed to have a PS2 or anything for a long time. So every time we visit we bring the PS2 along.
Thanksgiving day was lovely and dinner was rather nice and normal. Kinga and I decided to keep our annual Thanksgiving drinking tradition alive, the one we started last year in my basement. Our parents, however, were drinking whiskey, of all things. Kinga and I both rather abhor the taste. But lo and behold there was an unopened Smirnoff bottle in the liquor cabinet. Kinga was rather hesitant to open it but I went right along, and got my mother to cover for us. I love my mom. I really do. This had to be done because my uncle is a huge hipocrite and believes that Kinga is only allowed to drink what and when he offers her a drink, and then its only wine or a martini with dinner. Kinga and I both got fairly buzzed and happy, though we did get really disapproving looks from Justyna. Things got more amusing when Kinga's new BF called. Ha, we didn't even have to drunk dial him. We went on a walk and chatted to sober up at around 3 in the morning.
Next day was spent happily enough until dinner. Ahhhhh, my aunt can't cook. She just really, really sucks at it. She made "chili," at least that's what she called it. It was ground meet cooked in cinnamon and water, poured on top of noodles. Raw onion and grated cheese are put on top of that and its topped with oyster crackers. I think it was her own invention. *shudders* I ate my plate purely out of politeness. Ugh, my mom tried desperately hard to get out of that meal tactfully but failed miserably as well.
That evening we went to a free concert on 4th Street live. It was a local band Kinga is rather fond of called Cabin. I met her BF Ben there for the first time and after a bit of scrutinizing decided that we was a pretty decent guy. He got my stamp of approval and Kinga was rather relieved. I think that I was some sort of test or something for him. I wonder what she would have done if I had told her that he was a complete douche bag. We finished the Smirnoff that evening and pity onlocked everything on the DDR game.
Saturday, both sets of parents left. We were left to eat the leftovers from the last two days. Though as soon as the coast was clear I made a stir fry from the poor ingredients I could scrounge up. It didn't come out that badly, and my siblings and Kinga had a real dinner that night. We were out of booze so we played our traditional Cops and Robbers game, which is a version of our own invention of many years back, and charades. Overall it was a fabulous visit. The only draw back was the fact that I missed my peeps in Rockford.
The next week was a nightmare though. I had an exam in chemistry and physics and both did not go well. Now I'm trying very hard to get all my classes and grades up proper.
